Work of D12DMAP During 2013
In working to increase levels of social participation for locally based Disabled People and also to raise awareness of Disability issues, D12DMAP has developed the following initiatives during 2013:

Disability Inclusion Protocol.
In conjunstion with the Dublin Community Forum D12DMAP organised the Disability Inclusion Protocol workshop. Here representatives from local Community Groups participated learned why improved levels of Access, Attitudes and Meaningful participation are so important when looking to include People living with Disability.

Disability Awareness Training.
Taking a participatory approach, D12DMAP train locally based Disabled People as facilitators, so as to provide Disability Awareness Workshops to Youth Projects throughout Dublin 12.

Drop in Facility.
Taking place in the Fr Kitt Court, Crumlin, our Drop in Facility runs every second Monday this space provides for a social space for people to socialise, network and information share. Links are provided here with service providers, local amenities and community based initiatives. Finally this space provides a platform for locally based Disabled People to lobby collectively both on Access & Disability issues.

Integrated Gardening group
Based in Pearse College Allotments, Crumlin. The D12DMAP Integrated Gardening Group facilitates people of all abilities, with an interest in gardening, to come together to cultivate our raised beds.

Work of D12DMAP prior to 2013 has included:

  • A survey on physical accessibility of the main roads from Dolphin’s Barn to the M50 which also looked at the accessibility of bus stops and bus routes.
  • Surveyed the opinions of disabled people, staff from disability services, and community activists on disability awareness and needs.
  • A seminar on further education for disabled people in Dublin 12.
